Meet Richard.
Meet Melissa.
R & M Farming was started by Richard and Melissa Smyth in 2011 as a share farming venture, cropping wheat and barley in Pinnaroo, SA. We started this venture with a trailed John Deere 1051 header and a hired tractor. Over the years, we have built our business up with new equipment, farming our own broadacre crops on leased land. Our business has also expanded to providing contracting services not limited to spraying, seeding, hay/silage and harvesting.
Today, we run 2 Fendt tractors and equipment to cover most broadacre cropping jobs. We still maintain a broadacre cropping program too.
Richard is highly motivated and passionate about all aspects of farming. He has been farming all his life. He came from Northern Ireland working with cattle on the family farm, then went on to potato and silage work in England whilst at college and then went backpacking around Australia on broadacre and potatoes farms where he has settled. He’s very handy with the tools as well and has used his Ag Engineering degree to create and modify our equipment to work best for us.
Melissa is mostly found in administration but is often found operating the equipment too. She comes from Perth and moved to SA to work in potatoes before broadacre farming. Coming into farming with a Horticulture degree, she has a keen interest in agronomy, weeds and pests.
With the assistance of our 3 four legged helpers, we can cover any job that needs doing!
R & M Farming are focused on providing a high quality service to our clients. As we are farmers ourselves, we know what our clients expect of a job well done.
We’re keen to hear from you with regards to your contracting requirements!
